There are many misconceptions and myths about orthodontics treatment. Many people believe the same myths and misconceptions that are common to braces. This is often due to their exposure to television programs and movies. Fear of treatment can make it difficult to achieve the perfect smile. These myths have all been proven false.

“BRACES LOCK TOGETHER WHILE KISSING “…FALSE!”

It is impossible to live up to this classic myth. Modern braces are smaller in size and more compact than ever so they won’t entangle. This is extremely unlikely.

“HAVING BRACES WOULD MAKE SPEECH DIFFICULT “…FALSE!”

Braces may take some time to get used to but any difficulties you face will only be temporary. Braces may be necessary to correct some speech problems.

“BRACES INTERFERE WITH RADIO SIGNALS “…FALSE!”

Braces cannot pick up radio signals because of their thinness. Braces won’t interfere with any signal from an electronic device.

“I CAN’T PLAY SPORTS WITH BRACES FALSE!”

As long as your mouth is protected, you can still enjoy your favorite sports. You can feel safe wearing a mouth guard. Boise Orthodontist can give you a mouthguard at no additional cost.

“BRACES ARE EXTREMELY POSITIVE “… FALSE!”

Although it will be difficult to get used to braces for the first time, you won’t feel any discomfort. There will be soreness if your wires have been tightened for a few days. There are plenty of food choices that can reduce discomfort.

You will forget that your braces even exist for the majority of the time. This myth is dispelled and you can enjoy your braces with minimal discomfort. Keep your retainer on after you have had treatment. This will prevent your teeth from shifting again.
